Week 13-14
Year 5 students learn the term "rotational symmetry" linked to math and in art we will be doing a project involving rotational symmetry. In this project students used a compass to draw perfect concentric circles in which they drew small pictures or patterns that rotated around the circle. They colored in their drawings with pencil crayons and do their best to be consistent with their coloring.

Week 10-12
During the next 3 weeks the Year 5 classes will combine what they have learned about line and pattern with the new element of colour to create interesting designs.
The first design they will create is a 3D hand made using line and a repeated pattern of colours. The second project will be an abstract pattern following on from the ideas in the 3D hand. The students will also learn about primary and complimentary colours during this exercise. |
